To describe how a change in one thing causes a change in another, we can use a comparative form with the... the.

• The longer you leave it, the worse it'll get.

• The less I see him, the more I like him.

• The higher you climb, the colder it gets.

• The more you put off going to the dentist, the worse you will feel.

• The longer you leave it, the more painful your tooth will become.

We can sometimes omit the verb to be in the clauses: 

• The more sophisticated the product, the more substantial the potential profit. 

• The sooner, the better.

• The more, the merrier.
