Getting Started

Installing Parrot

Simply import Parrot in your project from the asset store.

Parrot is situated by default in the plugin folder. You can move Parrot elsewhere if you want, however we recommend you keep it there as it shortens your compilation time. Don't forget to update the path of Parrot in the settings in that case

Parrot is compatible with all the Unity version from 5.4. It should automatically make the necessary changes in case you switch from one version to the other.

However, in the unlikely event in which you encounter any problem after switching the engine's version, please delete Parrot's folder and reimport it.

Opening Parrot

To open Parrot. you must click on Tools/Selection Parrot/Open Parrot. Parrot will appear as a popup on the top of the editor, however it is designed to be attached vertically or horizontally like so:

Attach Parrot this way for a better experience! You can as well put it in a more compact mode if needed

Parrot features two mode: a compact one and a full one.

The compact mode tries to take as little space as possible on your interface which is great when you care about readability of your interface. If you prefer to see the full information about your groups all the time, simply make the Parrot window bigger to switch to the full mode.

Please note that parrot automatically switches from an horizontal to a vertical layout depending on its dimension. its interface also adapts to the side of the screen it is on, so you don't need to worry about that.

In Compact Mode, Parrot will show only the icons of each group, and the name when hovering them.

In Full Mode, the names are all displayed under the icon, and the categories are fully visible.

Where To Get Started : Just Drag And Drop!

How to use Parrot? Easy!

Just drag and drop objects from your scene or assets onto the plus sign to create a new group with those objects. You can then drag and drop any objects on groups to add them to it, or remove them from it if they are already present inside.

You can as well add or remove objects from a group by selecting a bunch of objects, and click "Add Objects" or "Remove Objects" from the group option.

You can as well drag and drop the groups: this will behave as if you would drag the objects contained in it. This way you can instantiate new prefabs, drop objects on inspector fields, and so on. You can as well add the objects of a group to another by dragging a group to another one.
