SHS is a voluntary literary writing project.
It ostensibly resembles a historical society that's uncovering an extinct race of humans, with huge ramifications for on how we view history.
Its recommended you are familiar with the Selaiki people and the Selaikic Historical Society by reading the following pages. These will give you a basic framework to build off into new areas of the setting.
Building upon this framework, there are several fundamental points SHS expects/implements, which may differ from other writing sites:
The author should have a college-level proficiency in the English language and literary skills, or higher.
This is to ensure ease of communication and feedback, and so that critique can be digested and integrated without having to reiterate foundational literary concepts.
Generative machine learning models to generate user-facing content is banned. AI-generated and AI-assisted writing are not permitted on the Selaikic Historical Society Website, including use of AI to revise material and use of AI to produce content that an author then adds surface edits to.
With the possibility of multiple entries and subjects, canonicity will inevitably be a fluid phenomenon. Don’t feel you have to restrict yourself to a specific canon.
At its core, an SHS article is a short story told through a historical society, which acts as a vessel for storytelling — fundamental literary techniques surrounding writing will still apply. It's recommended that while you do read on-site material, you also read and watch a wide variety of published works outside of the SHS website.
Documentaries, essays, etc. about ancient history will most certainly help you in understanding the setting the Selaiki lived in and how you can use it to flesh out Selaikic history and culture.
The following are recommended video essays and archaeological channels about ancient history:

Writing an entry requires using an SHS-approved template. This makes it easy to catalog if it's accepted on the SHS website. The template includes prompts to help you provide information if applicable.
You can freely obtain a template through the following link.
SHS entries use a clinical, neutral tone and generally follow a standard layout, with additional information, if applicable to your story.
Note: Do not pick a number higher than currently open.
Use scholarly uncertainty; Being speculative, or not knowing the full extent of the subject and its history, can help with community engagement and involvement.
Keep in mind the following rules when writing an entry for SHS:
Do not pick a number higher than 300 (subject to change).
Focus on clarity and easy understanding.
Do not use crude statements or bathroom subjects.
Avoid long sentences.
No NSFW writing or images.
