My research interest is aquatic ecology, especially fish metacommunity ecology and invasion ecology. I have been studying the relative importance of local and regional ecological processes on fish assemblage dynamics in various aquatic systems including floodplain lakes, desert streams, and warm/cold water rivers.
Currently, I have been using environmental DNA techniques for quantifying the relative abundance of native and non-native aquatic plants and fish assemblage patterns in riverine systems in Japan.
