Janeybug's Big Day, by Sarah Jane Houston, is a beautifully illustrated children's book that is loosely based on the true story of a little girl with big glasses on her first day of first grade. It showcases diversity, inclusion and empowerment as Janeybug navigates her way through a new environment and overcomes adversity in the form of harsh words from a classmate. She feels empowered when her teacher unexpectedly comes to her rescue.
