Fluid-Induced Drilling Dynamics
The objective of this experiment is to investigate fluid-induced drilling vibrations. The experimental setup consists of:
Electromagnetic shaker capable of replicating drill bit excitation
Electrical rotational motor
Centrifugal magnetic-drive pump
Interchangeable 20 ft long string representing scale BHA
Inductive displacement sensors for BHA trajectory at three stations
Fluid Flow & Heat Transfer in Dual Fracture Enhanced Geothermal System
The experimental setup is designed to evaluate fluid hydraulics and heat transfer characteristics in a dual fracture system. The experimental setup consists of:
Seepex progressive cavity pump, controlled by a VFD and capable of pumping a variety of fluids
Two independent heat controllers for each fracture
10 ft long test section with granite rock samples
Two differential pressure transducers for each test section
Three RTD temperature sensors (one inlet and two outlets)
Chiller system
DataQ instrument controller for data logging at 1 Hz
