A shared ontology across different studies and imaging technologies is the foundation for data sharing and interoperability among the medical and biological imaging partners of EuBI-ITA. Within the SEE LIFE project, common strategies and protocols are being defined to classify samples and experimental procedures in a unified framework.
Current Activities
In alignment with the process initiated across EuroBioImaging Nodes, the SEE LIFE partner units have implemented a common ontology for the definition of experimental samples and procedures, accordingly with the metadata guidelines of EuBI (https://pidar.hpc4ai.unito.it/Home/About), and have begun collecting data on use-cases that integrate both medical and biological imaging modalities.
An internal call for use-case proposals has been launched to all partners. Selected use-cases — drawn from both medical imaging and biological imaging groups — are being evaluated based on their level of innovation and the necessity of cross-modality integration. Common protocols, including novel cross-modality image analysis and AI-based solutions, are under development.
