About this piece: Painted en plein air at Black Canyon National Park, and then taken back to the studio for touch ups. Colorado's tallest cliff face rises dramatically from the Black Canyon, its streaked granite walls creating natural abstract patterns. The Gunnison River carved this magnificent canyon over millennia. Part of the Snow Melt exhibition. Fun fact - the same day while painting this piece, I saw a mountain lion run in front of me while in my car in the national park.
