Modelling geoscientific flows via G-ADOPT: A community platform for data-driven simulations
Tuesday 30 June, 7-8:30am
Thomas Duvernay & Hamish Brown, Australian National University
G-ADOPT is a next-generation computational platform for simulating geoscientific flows using adjoint-based methods. Built on the Firedrake finite-element library, G-ADOPT offers a user-friendly interface via a Python API to facilitate the development of data-driven simulations. During this session, we will first showcase the most recent G-ADOPT advances relative to modelling mantle convection, glacial isostatic adjustment, sea-level evolution, and groundwater dynamics. Then, we will demonstrate how to get started with the numerical platform. Finally, we will highlight future perspectives and community building within G-ADOPT.
If participants wish to run G-ADOPT models on their own laptops, there are two avenues:
Use Google Colab - Open a notebook via the GitHub integration; search for G-adopt/tutorials
