Steering Group

Steering Group

The Steering Group is responsible for the Neighbourhood Development Plan project and is made up of volunteers from the parish (including representatives from the Parish Council).

There is a Core Group that will work alongside our Planning Consultant from Brodie Planning Associates to deliver the Plan. These will be supported by several contributors from the Parish who have particular specialisms and wish to be involved in specific matters based on their areas of expertise.

Here is the agreed Terms of Reference for the Steering Group.

Meetings

Core Group meetings take place on a regular basis and contributor meetings and public meetings will take place as necessary.

There were no meetings between March and August 2020 for several reasons.

  • There was significant data analysis work to be done following our survey and the intention had been to present this to the community at a public meeting, unfortunately Covid-19 restrictions and a lockdown prevented us from doing this.

  • Our Planning Consultant was placed on furlough for April and May 2020.

  • On our Planning Consultant’s return to work BPA focused on carrying out site assessments and drafting the Green Space Background Paper and the Housing Background Paper which took several months.

  • Meetings resumed in August 2020 when members of the Steering Group were involved in reviewing the background papers and site assessments, this work was undertaken at a series of meetings. A detailed methodology is set out in each of the background papers and the summaries and conclusions drawn for each site assessment capture what was discussed at each of these meetings. All of these meetings took place on Zoom as it was not possible to meet in person.

Volunteers

The Steering Group welcomes interest and offers from new volunteers and is always keen to add to its skills base. We need volunteers who can contribute to a range of areas for example:

  • can attend meetings and help at future events;

  • have local knowledge;

  • have report writing skills;

  • have photography skills;

  • have marketing and publicity skills; and of course

  • are passionate about our local area.
