ha creato il "Titanic" ...


La nave, costruita come simbolo del trionfo della ragione e della

tecnologia umana, è morto nel suo primo viaggio. 8 coincidenze fatali,

lo studio degli errori costruttivi, strane previsioni, le esperienze dei

testimoni oculari.

2 200 persone a bordo ... e una possibilità di fuga. Fino ad ora il

"Titanic" rimane un simbolo di insicurezza della persona prima degli

1954, nach einem acht Jahre andauernden Krieg in Indochina, muss sich die französische Kolonialmacht gegen die vietnamesische Unabhängigkeitsbewegung um ihren Anführer Ho Chi Minh geschlagen geben. Zwar vereinbaren beide Parteien, dass es nun zu freien Wahlen kommen soll, doch das Land ist tief gespalten. So gewinnen im Norden die Kommunisten, im Süden die Demokraten. Unausweichlich kommt es zum Bürgerkrieg zwischen den beiden unvereinbaren Systeme. Als die von China und der Sowjetunion unterstützten Kommunisten zu gewinnen drohen und fast ganz Südvietnam besetzen, greift die USA militärisch ein. Denn das Eintreten der Domino-Theorie, nach der sich der Kommunismus überall in Südostasien auszubreiten versucht, muss unbedingt verhindert werden. 1965 fliegen zunächst die US-Luftstreitkräfte zehntausende Einsätze gegen den Norden und zerstören dabei ganze Städte. Doch bald darauf werden auch Bodentruppen in den Kampf geschickt. Zunächst sollen sie nur die südvietnamesischen Streitkräfte unterstützen und ausbilden, aber immer mehr US-Soldaten werden in die brutalen Dschungelkämpfe mit hineingezogen. Folglich müssen hunderttausende junge Männer müssen in den USA zum Wehrdienst. Während in Vietnam mit Napalm-Brandbomben und hochgiftigen chemische Entlaubungsmittel gegen die schwer zu fassenden Guerillakämpfer vorgegangen wird, demonstrieren in den USA und auch in Europa die Menschen gegen den Wehrdienst und für den Frieden. Sie fordern ein Ende des scheinbar sinnlosen und nicht zu gewinnenden Krieges.
