Strong Writer Success Start-Up

Day 1- Strong Writers Start with Lists (See Formal Lesson Plans for Day 1-3)

Day 2- Strong Writers Think About Everything Around Them

Day 3- Strong Writers Write About Themselves

Day 4- Strong Writers Talk About Themselves

Have students split into heterogenous groups to read their writing from Day 3 to a partner. Remind students that good partners stay on topic and give advice for more details they think their partner should add. Students should also have time to meet with more than 1 partner.

Day 5- Strong Writers Add More to Their Work

Have students go back and reread their work. You can choose to have them conference with you or allow them to write on their own for assessment. They should be able to add at least 1 or 2 more answers to the questions from Day 3. If students feel comfortable or think that their work is "done", they can move onto the challenge where they get to type their writing on a Google Doc.
