8 May 2025, Pittsburgh, PA - I know, I know. I have not updated this section in a while, but hey! I'm coming back with a bang! At 11:00AM today I presented my work on theticity and focus in L2 Spanish. I explored how training learners on the use of word order inversion has an effect on prosody. Good stuff. I am now a Doctor in Linguisitcs, hence the title.

September 2023. Indiana, United States - I presented my comprehensive papers' research on the acquisition of Spanish prosody -with Dr Ortega-Llebaria- and the effects of eyebrow raising in L2 Spanish using Memojis -with Dr Amanda Huensch.
I was happy to see Dr Farrah Newman, a Pitt alumna, currently working at Duolingo.
June 2023. Paris, France - I presented some of the results of my thesis work on the acquisition of word order and prosody in beginner Spanish students whose L1 is English. This work has been done in collaboration with my advisor, Dr Ortega-Llebaria.
Andrea Hernández also presented her work on the phonetics of panocho. We got to meet very nice people :)

June 2023. Gold Coast, Australia - Dr Roberto Corizzo and I presented the paper entitled A Deep Fusion Model for Human vs. Machine-generated Essay Classification, in which we propose a model for L2 essay classification based on linguistic features.
