This is Buko Pie, a pie filled with coconut (buko). The taste is not too sweet, which suits my taste very well. Inside, there are very soft pieces of coconut meat. Buko pie is a local specialty of Gabaldon, and it is sold at Lubong Central Market. 🥥🥧

My first love there was Chicken Inasal. This dish is very similar to grilled chicken in Indonesia. I also tried Buffalo Wings labeled as spicy, but they were not spicy at all for me; the taste was more sweet and sour.
I was a little surprised by how large the chicken portions were, and it became one of my favorite foods during my time there. 🍗✨
The food at Mang Teban was also a winner for me. I forgot some of the menu names, but I tried many dishes there. One of them was Chicken Feet, where even the bones could be eaten. I also tried a fish soup that tasted savory and slightly sour, as well as Pancit, which is a type of fried rice noodles, along with various kinds of seafood. 🦐🍜🐟
A traditional dessert from the Philippines is Halo-Halo, which literally means “mix-mix.” The portion is very large and the taste is sweet and refreshing. It is said that because the weather in the Philippines is tropical and often hot, people there can usually finish a whole serving of halo-halo without feeling too cold in their mouths. However, when I tried it, the ice felt very cold.
Halo-halo contains ingredients such as red beans, Jackfruit, jelly, and sweet egg yolk. 🍧
I also tried various kinds of skewered foods and street food there, such as Calamari (squid), Kwek-kwek, and chicken intestines. In Indonesia, skewered foods like these are usually served with tomato sauce or chili sauce. However, in the Philippines, they are typically served with sour vinegar or sweet barbecue sauce. 🍢
