The SEA Teacher Program has been more than just an international teaching practicum for me it has been a transformative journey of learning, growth, and connection. Through this experience, I was able to step beyond my comfort zone, immerse myself in a different educational system, and understand that teaching is a universal language built on empathy, patience, and purpose.

This journey strengthened my belief that education is one of the most powerful tools to create change. It taught me that being an educator means being open to different perspectives, adapting to diverse environments, and continuously learning not only for ourselves, but for the students we serve. Beyond personal growth, this program also reflects several important global issues aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It supported SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by encouraging students and teachers to adapt to healthy and supportive learning environments, while also reminding us of the importance of physical and emotional well-being during the exchange. It strongly promoted SDG 4: Quality Education through teaching practice, classroom observation, academic mentoring, and international knowledge exchange allowing future educators like myself to grow in professional competence and educational awareness. The program also connected with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing pre-service teachers with practical skills, global perspectives, and professional experiences needed for future careers in education. Through cross-cultural understanding, inclusive educational experiences, and building connections across borders, this journey contributed to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, showing how education can become a bridge between different communities, cultures, and backgrounds. Most importantly, this program reflected SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals, through the collaboration between Universitas Negeri Jakarta, SEAMEO, National University Manila, and NU Nazareth School proving that strong partnerships create meaningful opportunities for students to grow globally. To future SEA Teacher participants: embrace every moment, every challenge, and every unfamiliar situation. Growth will often come in the moments you least expect. Be open to learning, be brave enough to adapt, and allow yourself to build connections beyond borders. Because in the end, SEA Teacher is not only about teaching abroad it is about discovering how far education can take you, and how much of yourself you will find along the way.
