I am a pre-accredited psychotherapist with APCP and hold professional insurance for my counselling and psychotherapy practice.
Counselling and psychotherapy are confidential. This means that what you share in sessions is treated with care and privacy.
However, confidentiality has some legal and ethical limits. As a mandated person, I may need to break confidentiality if:
there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person
there are child protection or safeguarding concerns
I am legally required to disclose information
there is concern about the abuse or neglect of a vulnerable person
Where possible, I will aim to discuss any concerns with you before taking further action.
Personal information is collected only where necessary for providing therapy, managing appointments, communication, and professional record-keeping.
Information may include your name, contact details, date of birth, emergency contact, GP details, relevant health information, session notes, and payment records.
Your information will be stored securely and will not be shared without your consent, except where legally or ethically required.
Brief session notes and relevant client information are kept securely as part of professional and ethical practice. These records are not shared except where required by law, professional obligations, or risk/safeguarding concerns.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice where possible.
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session fee.
