One of the most recent projects I've had the opportunity to contribute to is the redesign of the County of Maui's website. Working as an Information Systems Analyst for the County of Maui's office of Information Technology (IT), I took on the role of transforming and improving the website's user experience through layout and interaction design. This endeavor could not have been done without the collaboration of the County's IT and Communications Offices alongside our vendor CivicPlus. Together, with some tender love and care (TLC), we revitalized the outdated website into a modern, accessible, and user-centered digital experience.
I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to combine and apply my degrees in Computer Science (concentrating in Human-Computer Interaction) and Studio Art to improve the public's online experience with local government services. Guided by UX/UI best practices and inspired by the Native Hawaiian philosophy of Mauka to Makai, I developed a design that reflects Maui's identity while improving navigation, accessibility, and usability for residents and visitors alike.
Contributing to a project that serves my home community has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I am grateful to have collaborated with the talented teams at the County of Maui and CivicPlus to bring this vision to life.
