Established by Dr. Craig Nakatsuka in collaboration with Pastor Jerry Saludez at Waipio Community Baptist Church in May of 2016, Seafarers Medical Clinic began as a one-man team providing medical care to the international long-line fishermen docked at Honolulu Harbor. 

With the help of local physicians, pre-health students, and interpreters, SMC has served over 2,000 fishermen and expanded services into medication, diabetes and hypertension screenings, chronic disease management, and acute symptom treatment. 

What started as a team of one provider and 3 student volunteers, today consists of 10 providers, 4-6 interpreters of Filipino, Indonesian, and Vietnamese languages, and a team of 25 student volunteers and counting.
