I hope you enjoy these turtley, kid-friendly activities. There are; a poem activity, maths questions, a drawing activity, a craft activity, tips on how to make a poster, (on sea turtles) and a quiz to see how many facts you remembered on turtles.
Teachers Tip is for teachers/parents, to give them tips or extra activities.
Lets make a turtle poem about turtles. If you include facts in it, it feels real. Have a look at my example below. Remember, you don't have to add any punctuation, add only if necessary. Adding rhymes to it does make it sound nice, but you don't need to, just make sure it has a kind of rhythm to it.
A scramble to the ocean
A fight against the tides and waves
At last!
The open ocean
A few years on a beautiful black giant of a turtle glides in search of jellyfish
The life of a turtle
Sometimes calm and many fights for survival

Give the student (s) gidance or give them a expamlery equation to help.
How to draw a sea turtle.
Materials:
Pencil
Colour pencils; 2 types of green and 2 browns
Steps below;⬇️
1.Draw an oval in the middle of your paper.
2. Add a little head at the top of the oval, looking to the right.
3. Draw two flippers on either top side and two at the bottom.
4. Make a little elongated triangle in the middle of the two bottom flippers for a tail.
5. Add another oval in the middle of the turtle's shell, very close to the edge of the other one.
6. In the middle of that oval, draw different, big shapes that fit together in the shell.
7. On the head, draw a circle on the right of the head, for the eye. 8. In the middle of the head, add a line, where the head turns to the right. On top of the line, add some scales, a bit like the ones on the shell, only smaller.
9. Colour the middle oval, with all the shapes, in at least two types of green and one brown. Make sure you outline each scale, with pencil or pen.
If you want to draw a Leatherback, colour it with black and/or grey.
10. For the ring around the shell, colour it light brown and green.
Same here, colour it black.
11. The flippers should be dark green on the top edge and light green on the bottom, with a little green. Press hard with it to create the shades. The tail can be any colour.
12. Colour under the line, on the head, the darkest green you have. The scales on top, every shade of green you have.
Well done! You have made an excellent turtle. You could add a few jellyfish on the side of the paper as I have, for the turtle to be looking at hungrily.

When the child (Or children) has/have finished the activity, mix the stones up, have them put them in the correct order and explain each step.
Do you want to make a poster on turtles? Well, here are some tips to help you.
1.Make sure that your handwriting is neat and the spelling is correct.
2.Have lots of images/drawings (see above for how to draw a turtle) to make it look attractive, maybe have a colourful border.
3. Add some facts and/or bulletpoints under headings
4. Make sure the title of the poster is big and bold, perhaps use some colour.
5. Informative posters look best in portrait/vertical, while spider diagrams are great in landscape/horizontal
Teachers Tip:
Have the child explain or draw their plan of the poster, to help them in the layout. Offer to help them with anything like, spelling, ideas, ect.
