Teaching is a rewarding yet challenging endeavor that demands careful planning and adaptability. As I embarked on my first-ever demo teaching, I found myself at the intersection of nervousness and excitement. The process began with meticulous preparation, a warm shower to calm my nerves, and a prayer for guidance. Crafting an engaging lesson plan took center stage, and Miss Lam's valuable feedback helped me refine it. The excitement of being the first to demonstrate my teaching abilities was tinged with a hint of anxiety, but I was determined to ensure everything was impeccably prepared. With lesson plan in hand, I hurried to print it and even took the extra step of buying gifts for the children, hoping to create a positive classroom atmosphere.
The next phase was preparing instructional materials, a crucial element of any successful lesson. Upon arriving at the school, I embarked on a quest to find my classroom, class 2R. Setting up technology can sometimes be a hurdle, and indeed, we faced some difficulties in setting up the TV. Yet, with the teamwork of the main teacher, assistant teacher, and supervisor, we overcame the technical glitch.
As the moment of truth approached, I greeted my supervisor, the main teacher, and my students warmly, reminding them of our class rules to maintain focus and avoid disruptions. I utilized an energizer, asking the children to sing and dance to the catchy tune "Baby Shark," a cultural nod to Vietnam. This not only added a touch of fun but also served as a bonding experience.
I then introduced the topic, a lantern, and encouraged my students to share their experiences with lanterns. Their stories of the lantern festival in Vietnam brought the lesson to life. After explaining how to draw a simple lantern, we embarked on a creative journey, exploring various colors and shapes to adorn their artwork. The students' imagination and artistic flair shone through as they crafted their own lantern designs.
With their creations complete, we had a brief sharing session, fostering a sense of accomplishment and peer interaction. I presented the children with small gifts as a token of appreciation and captured the moment with a group photo. Following a short break, I conducted an evaluation of what they had learned, allowing each pupil to express their understanding.
In the end, as I bid my students farewell with a smile, I couldn't help but reflect on the dynamics of teaching. Some students were eager and attentive, while others tested boundaries, much like any classroom. However, I hope that each of them took away something valuable from the lesson β a newfound appreciation for their creativity and the courage to let their imaginations shine. During my internship in Vietnam, I quickly recognized the significance of time management due to the workload and my role as a student teacher at the Future Integrated School. This experience provided essential insights into effective time management.

Before scheduled demo teaching, I ensured I was at the bus stop well ahead of time to maintain punctuality and trust with my students. A crucial part of my routine was starting my day early and with a nutritious breakfast to energize me for the day's activities.
Arriving at least 30 minutes early for classes, meetings, and events became my norm. This allowed me to be well-prepared, review my lesson plans and materials, especially when teaching arts, and help students who might have forgotten their supplies. In the classroom, I meticulously followed my lesson plan, allocating time for each activity, ensuring I covered the necessary content and maintained the class's pace.Β
Furthermore, I discovered the balance between structure and flexibility, adapting my approach when necessary to cater to students' needs. Reflecting on my time management practices became a fundamental part of my growth, leading to continuous improvement. In the grander scheme, I realized that effective time management significantly influenced my professional development, fostering trust and a conducive learning environment for my students. Ultimately, time management isn't just about punctuality; it's about seizing opportunities and nurturing personal and professional growth.
Problem-Solving
Teaching at the Future Integrated School brought me face to face with the reality that challenges are an integral part of our lives, and they can manifest daily in various forms. One of the most pressing issues I encountered was class management. It became evident that certain students were particularly energetic and easily distracted, often preferring to engage in play or disrupt their peers rather than focus on the lesson at hand. To address this issue, I adopted a multifaceted approach.
First and foremost, I realized that making the class as engaging as possible was paramount. I introduced activities and teaching methods designed to capture the attention of even the most restless students. These activities not only helped channel their energy in a productive way but also made learning enjoyable.
