My Teaching Practice, I’ve brought the knowledge and skills I learned in the Philippines to my demonstration here at Future School. From the very start, I learned the importance of standing confidently in front of the class, speaking clearly, and engaging the students in their learning. These foundational skills have helped me connect with my students and effectively deliver my lessons.
At first, it wasn’t easy from translating the language to explaining the important points in my lesson. Initially, my teaching didn’t fit well within the allotted 45-minute class period, so I ran out of time, which affected the flow of my lesson. This experience taught me an important lesson about time management, particularly how essential it is to allocate time carefully for each activity. I applied what I learned from this first experience to improve my approach in the following lessons, focusing on managing time more effectively to ensure better outcomes.
My teaching journey in Vietnam has been transformative, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. Immersing myself in a new culture and educational environment has been an incredible learning experience, pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and adapt to new challenges. This journey has not only introduced me to fresh teaching strategies and approaches but has also taught me the importance of self-reflection and humility in the learning process.
My journey here would not have been successful without the people who helped me along the way. First, I would like to thank Miss Nhung for always checking on me, reviewing my lesson plans, and giving valuable advice. I am also grateful to people behind this journey:
I also want to express my gratitude to Anna, who has always been there for me. She helped me with the topics from the book, accompanied me to Future School, supported me during my teaching, and assisted with translating the language in my lessons. Her presence and help have been invaluable in this journey.
I’ve come to understand the value of embracing my mistakes, viewing them as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks. Each mistake has served as a stepping stone, helping me develop resilience and a more open-minded approach to teaching. These experiences have enriched my perspective, enabling me to connect better with my students and understand their unique needs.
The insights and lessons I’ve gained here in Vietnam will be invaluable as I move forward in my teaching career. I feel more prepared, adaptable, and inspired to continue evolving as an educator, carrying forward the knowledge and skills I’ve developed through this remarkable journey.
Also, I am grateful to my buddies who are always there, ready to help whenever I need a translation from the book.
I also want to thank Kim for her help in revising my lesson plan whenever adjustments or additions were needed, and for her assistance in translating the content of the book. Her support has made a huge difference in preparing my lessons effectively.
