OBSERVATION
When I first observed at Future Integrated School, I was immediately struck by the lively energy of the students as I entered. The classroom setup and teaching dynamics were noticeably different from what we are accustomed to in the Philippines, creating a fresh and intriguing learning atmosphere. My observation was focused on a Grade 4 class, where I noticed that the teacher skillfully used simple but effective commands to quickly capture and maintain the students’ attention. This technique not only facilitated a smooth flow of the lesson but also showed how responsive the students were to the teacher's authority and structure.
The lesson began with a motivational activity, which served as an engaging warm-up to energize the class and set a positive tone for learning. Following this, the teacher provided updates relevant to the class, seamlessly transitioning into the day’s main discussion. The topic was centered around essential life skills, focusing on hygiene, dress code, and the broader aspects of personal care. This approach highlighted the importance placed on teaching practical and socially relevant topics to young learners, fostering a sense of self-awareness and responsibility among the students.
As I observed, I was able to see the diversity in student behavior, each child exhibiting a unique personality and distinct level of understanding. Some students showed enthusiasm and curiosity, actively participating in the discussion, while others were more reserved, observing quietly yet attentively. This range of behaviors underscored the individuality of each student, reminding me of the value of adapting teaching methods to meet varied needs. The experience offered a valuable perspective on classroom dynamics, emphasizing the importance of understanding students' individual differences and adjusting teaching strategies to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
