SDSU Mock Trial celebrates a successful Fall Season, where the program accomplished many firsts: traveling by air for the first time and competing across state lines for the first time ever!!
In November of 2025, one team flew to compete at an invitational tournament hosted by UC Berkeley. That same weekend, the other two teams competed in Phoenix at an invitational tournament hosted by Arizona State. Each team demonstrated talent with their performances with a special shout out to Adrian Lopez and Erin Massa for winning Outstanding Witness Awards!
The following weekend, all three teams competed at the Annual Włodarczyk tournament hosted by UC San Diego, where each team competed incredibly well, demonstrating immense progress, dedication, and excellence. Special recognition goes to Darya Podeh and Dominic Flores Shafer for winning Outstanding Witness Awards, and to Caitlin Thornhill, Jocelyn Malone, and Meghna Mohan for winning Outstanding Attorney Awards!! The program is incredibly proud to bring home five individual awards and one SDSU team received an honorable mention for their excellence, ranking #9 overall at the tournament!
We look forward to the Spring Semester where SDSU Mock Trial will only continue to grow and progress. Many exciting things to come!
SDSU Mock Trial was proud to continue its partnership with Higgs Fletcher & Mack to host a second fundraiser and mixer in March of 2025. This event grew exponentially and was open to not only SDSU Mock Trial members, but the entire Pre-Law community at SDSU. At this event, students were able to learn from SDSU alumni and legal professionals to gain valuable insight into the legal career!
Special thanks to our partners at Higgs Fletcher & Mack as well all of our supponsers for their support!
In November 2024, SDSU Mock Trial sent three teams and 27 students to the annual Włodarczyk Invitational Tournament hosted at Cal Western School of Law by UC San Diego. Thanks to their hard work and effort our members brought home four outstanding awards; three outstanding witness awards and an outstanding attorney award! Thank you to Meghna Mohan, Grace Cho, Miranda Martinez, and Logan Parker for making us proud!
In January of 2025, SDSU Mock Trial sent all three teams to the furthest the program had traveled up to that point to compete at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo! All three teams worked incredibly hard and demonstrated immense excellence at this tournament!
Continuing into February of 2025, one team competed during the first weekend of the month at the Regional Tournament hosted by Claremont Mckenna! Each competitor performed extremely well and is proud to boast one Outstanding Regional Witness Award won by Chloe Thompson! The two other teams competed in the San Diego Regional Tournament at the end of February hosted by UC San Diego with Meghna Mohan winning an Outstanding Regional Attorney Award! Both teams made SDSU Mock Trial extremely proud and, for the first time in program history, one team tied to qualify for a bid to the Open Round Championship (ORCS) but lost in the tiebreaking statistic. This is the farthest the program has EVER gone in the history of SDSU Mock Trial and the program is so beyond proud of each and every competitor for their hard work and excellence.
The Mock Trial Advocate of the Year award is a scholarship that aims to annually acknowledge and highlight two students for their work throughout the mock trial season and encourage the next generation to pursue a legal career. The members who receive this award are the best SDSU Mock Trial has to offer; excelling in competition as well embodying the pillars of dedication and comradery that holds the program up.
2024 was the inaugural year for this award, and it was made possible by the generosity of Jon Davidi, SDSU Alumni and attorney for Los Angeles firm Panish | Shea | Ravipudi where he focuses on catastrophic personal injury cases. Mr. Davidi has had an outstanding career in mock trial at the law school level, competing on a team that won the 2018 American Association for Justice (AAJ) National Competition.
2024 Advocates of the Year: Joshua Radzinski and Alexander Ortiz
2025 Advocates of the Year: Meghna Mohan and Delia Tapia
"Supporting the SDSU Mock Trial team now is important for Mr. Davidi since he remembers how his law school trial team impacted his career. 'It was an integral part of my training as an attorney, and I remember being in law school where there were people on our team and other teams who had done mock trial competitions as undergraduates — they had such an advantage. And I remember looking back and wishing that I had done that too,' he said."

Thank you Mr. Davidi!
In November, 2023, SDSU Mock Trial attended the annual Anteater Invitational tournament, hosted by and at UC Irvine, where a total of 36 teams competed. This was the first time SDSU Mock Trial attended this tournament and sent two teams, with a total of 24 students, to the tournament. As the tournament wrapped up, SDSU Mock Trial was awarded with two individual awards and an SDSU team received an honorable mention, ranking #9 overall. Later in the month, SDSU Mock Trial sent three teams and 35 students to the annual Włodarczyk Invitational Tournament hosted at Cal Western School of Law by UC San Diego. SDSU Mock Trial then attended the AMTA Regionals Tournament, hosted by UC San Diego at California Western School of Law in February 2024. This was the first time that SDSU Mock Trial has attended an AMTA Regionals Tournament in two years. SDSU Mock Trial sent two teams, a total of 20 students, to the competition. While neither team progressed to the Opening Round Championship Series, they performed extraordinarily throughout the tournament.
Additionally, A Team witness, Alex Ortiz took home an individual award for his outstanding portrayal of a witness, his second award of the competition season!
SDSU Mock Trial was proud to host a fundraiser and mixer at Higgs Fletcher & Mack on October 3, 2023. Throughout the event, SDSU Mock Trial students were able to engage with SDSU alumni and legal professionals to learn more about their experiences and share about their time at SDSU Mock Trial.
Special thanks to our partners at Higgs Fletcher & Mack and Berry Good Food Foundation for their support!
When reflecting on the impact of this event, one member described her experience of being part of SDSU Mock Trial saying, “My time with SDSU Mock Trial has allowed me to connect with both my peers and SDSU alum/legal professionals, which has given me valuable insight into potential career paths and what it might be like to practice law some day. Attending our fundraising mixer at Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP allowed me to meet and network with legal professionals in a variety of fields who could discuss their day-to-day experiences as attorneys.”
