Download your new I-94 number from HERE
Email us the new I-94 PDF and the Port of Entry (city, state where you first entered the US)
File Your Taxes
If you have been here for five or less years, you do NOT pay social security or Medicare taxes. Make sure to inform your HR office and check your first pay receipt. If these taxes were withheld, please inform your HR office immediately. If they do not get this fixed, it will be an issues for your taxes next year.
If you have been in the U.S. for more than five years, you are subject to these taxes.
Make sure your HR office has a good mailing address to send the W-2 next year. If you are not sure where you will be living, have them send to the Ivanhoe International Center.
STEP 5: Contact Internship Coordinator
If you are doing this for credit:
You and the co-op coordinator will get an email from the Ivanhoe International Center. Do the following:
Make an appointment with your internship coordinator and/or major advisor
Talk to the internship coordinator and/or major advisor about which Cooperative Education (CP) class you must register for:
Part-time (less than 20 hours a week): one credit of Cooperative Education (CP) classes;
Full-time (more than 20 hours a week): two (2) credits of Cooperative Education (CP) classes
Cooperative Education classes are required to comply with U.S. Government regulations. The class may or may not count towards your degree requirements. Talk to your advisor about this. Either way, as an international student, you are required to take these.
See this GUIDE to change the credits, if needed.
Cooperative Education (CP) Credits - Academic Requirement
THIS IS A CLASS FOR CREDIT. Whether or not it will count towards your degree. It will be on your transcript for a grade.
A CP course must satisfy departmental requirements. Since every department has different requirements, make sure you contact your co-op advisor and make sure you do what is required for these credits.
Some departmental requirements may include:
Co-op Student Report Format
Co-op Employer Evaluation
After Academic Training (AT) Completion
After AT is over, inform the Ivanhoe International Center. If you are returning home, let us know your home address. If you are coming back for another semester, fill out the Address Change form to report your address here in Rapid City.
