Dr. De La Garza has work experience with higher education, public, charter, and parochial school settings.
Dr. Sarah De La Garza is the Founder/Owner of Dr. SDLG Consulting and Evaluation Solutions. Born and raised on the U.S. Mexico Border in Laredo, Texas, Dr. De La Garza has been an advocate of student success. She has experience in the K-12 and higher education settings. She is currently a practitioner serving her high school alma mater as the Director of College Readiness at St. Augustine High School. She previously served as the Assistant Director of the 1882 Dual Language Community Lab Schools Partnership at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Prior to completing her Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. De La Garza gained experience as a K-12 teacher and administrator. After teaching secondary social studies, she served as an Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Assistant Director of Bilingual/ESL Programs in Texas charter schools. She has presented at the American Educational Research Association, University Council of Educational Administration, National Association of Bilingual Education among other local and state conferences. Her dissertation, A Snapshot of Texas Bilingual Preparation Programs, earned her the 2022 Texas Association of Bilingual Education Dissertation of the Year Award.
