Our Research Question: What are the health needs and overall well-being of people of color throughout South Africa, and how can they be improved?
Us researchers have chosen South Africa due to its lack of resources, its need for better healthcare, and to learn more about how South Africa has improved over the years. We decided to make it about people of color to tie it into our mentors field of expertise dealing with critical race theory. We also felt that South Africa had good grounds for our first research experience.
The Problem - Learn about what SDG3 is about and its effects on South Africa's people.
The History - Here you will get a history of not only South Africa in terms of colonization but as well as the apartheid history.
The People - Learn about the people of color in South Africa, from information regarding the concerns of their health and well-being to sections about the individuals within those racial groups.
The Geography - Here you will learn about the red lining and fundamentally installed segregation among South Africa
The Systems - Here you will learn about mental health in the education system, health system and criminal justice system
The Politics - Read about a brief explanation of the South African political system, and how politics, as well as responses from the South African government, has shaped the state of the healthcare people of color receive.
The Science - Learn about the effects of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and COVID-19
The Impact & Urgency - Here we learn about the impact SDG 3 has in South Africa and how urgent this matter is.
Supports / Actions Taken - Read about what has been done to combat the growing issues with HIV, TB, and other barriers stopping people of color in South Africa from getting the care they need.
The Future - Here is our ideas on how to make the future more promising for SDG 3 in South Africa
