There are two groups of exchange students from Japan come to SDA each year. One group usually comes in November and another in March. SDA students will spend approximately 1-2 weeks with the Japanese students enhancing each other's language proficiency and experience different cultures.
Four-Corners Activity
In class:
We interact with Japanese exchange students through multiple activities, such as a scavenger hunt, four-corners activity, and campus tour lead by AP Japanese students.
Outside of the class:
Beach Party at Encinitas Moonlight Beach
On this trip, students are taken all over Japan and visit a variety of locations from the bustling city of Tokyo to the serene countryside of Toyama. Students taking part in this trip get to experience Japanese culture first-hand by eating Japanese cuisines and visiting beautiful cultural sites, such as Todaiji Temple in Nara. They are also able to use and improve their Japanese skills in natural and authentic situations, especially when they stay with Japanese host families in the town of Toyama.
