Updated October 2024
Eligibility:
Students who are registered as juniors have the option of playing either in the junior OR senior tournament, but not both.
It does not matter if a junior played in senior league matches, they are eligible for the junior tournament
Even if a school did not participate in the junior league, their junior players will have the right to compete at the junior tournament, however, their seeding will be in the lower spots and may have a tougher draw.
Any junior that participates in the senior tournament is NOT ELIGIBLE for the junior tournament
Entries:
Each school gets 2 entries into each draw (2 BS, 2GS, 2 MX, 2 BD, 2 GD)
No student may enter more than 2 events
Students who enter 2 events must realize that they may need to play a lot of games relatively close together (eg: gold medal match then first round of next event right after). You may wish to reconsider entering people twice who cannot handle many games.
Entries sent must be in order of strength. Your best player entered must be first and weaker player must be second for each event.
In the event that a player does not show up after their first match has been called or is injured during the tournament, note that there are no individual player substitutions. Unfortunately, that team can no longer compete.
Berths:
Top 6 in each event are guaranteed a spot in the FN finals
There may be additional berths granted if another district cannot fill their berth allotment
If a team cannot make the FN finals, teams that finished in 7th then 8th will be the next eligible teams so keep the FN date open even if you just miss qualification (we had 4 teams pull out in one event last year so 10th was able to go!)
Only 2 teams per school in each event is eligible to go to the FN finals. In the event that a 3rd team is put in to fill a gap for experience, they automatically lose each round and will get a maximum of 2 matches as they are not eligible to move on even if they won their game.
Please note that all BCSS rules apply with the following exception: Uniforms are highly encouraged but not required as they are in Provincials
Players are not allowed to leave between games without it being an exceptional reason AND they have communicated to their coach. If a player disappears from court without communication, they will forfeit the game (not necessarily the match).
Coquitlam Rules around etiquette are also enforceable here (language, sportsmanship). Violation of this can result in the forfeiture of match.
FN finals is as far as this tournament goes (no provincials). The team banner tournaments are completely separate from this tournament and have no effect on each ther as far as eligibility goes.
