Definition of Professional Learning
Professional Learning is defined as the means by which educators develop new knowledge, skills, and practices necessary to better meet students’ learning needs.
Overall Goals of 5-Year Professional Learning & Development Plan
Learn research-based content-area instructional strategies and make explicit connections between and among standards and unit design (2016-2021) Since Title IIa funds are being utilized, religion will not be a focus area of this plan.
2016-2018 Focus Content Area - ELA
2018-2020 Focus Content Area - Math
2020-2021 Focus Content Areas - Science
2. Develop and modify content area units of instruction in Atlas using the diocesan template (2016-2021)
Build units in other content areas (non-focus content areas) while deepening understanding of focus content area standards (2017-2021)
3. Improve data literacy and use assessment data to inform instruction (2016-ongoing)
4. Utilize evidence-based best practices in serving students with diverse learning needs (2016-ongoing)
5. Build instructional leadership capacity at site levels to provide teachers with onsite support at the school level (2017-ongoing)
