We are excited to announce Dr. Grace Pregent as this year's keynote speaker.
Dr. Grace Pregent (she/her) is the Director of the Writing Center at Michigan State University and graduate faculty in Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures and in Global Studies.Â
Motivated by a passion for linguistic justice, Dr. Pregent started working in writing centers as an undergraduate language coach and then as a graduate writing consultant. She has been in writing center leadership for 10+ years, and since joining Michigan State in 2019, Dr. Pregent has partnered with writing and literacy centers in local, regional, and global contexts. Inspired by adrienne maree brown, she believes large-scale change and transformation begins with small-scale actions repeated over time and with care in our local contexts and our daily relationships with each other. Dr. Pregent's recent scholarship on value-centered partnerships and coalitions appears in College Composition and Communication, WLN, and the edited collections Public Feminisms and Multimodal Writing Centers and Studios: Profiles of Practice (Utah State Press, 2026).
Grace is the President of the East Central Writing Centers Association and the Secretary for the Western Michigan Chapter of the North Country Trail Association. She enjoys running with friends, traveling with her family, and hiking with her local trail chapter and beloved family dog, Molly.
