Program Requirements:
We are looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to learn and serve their community. To qualify, applicants must:
Be between 14 and 20 years old
Have completed 8th grade
Maintain at least a “B” average in school
Demonstrate good moral character
Have no arrests or convictions
Have no gang affiliation or behavioral issues
Submit to and pass a drug screening test.
Meet basic physical fitness standards similar to those required of Deputy Sheriffs.

If you decide you want to become an SCV Sheriff's Station Explorer, and you feel that you meet the minimum qualifications, please click here to download the application.
After you have completed the application, submit it to the SCV Sheriff's Station lobby (26201 Golden Valley Road, Santa Clarita) in a manilla envelope addressed to "SCV Explorer Program, c/o Deputy Jensen." PLEASE NOTE: Applications are only processed twice a year, so you will be added to the waitlist until applications are processed for the next open academy.
Once your application is processed, you will be contacted for a LiveScan and Oral Interview.
After this is completed, you will be contacted with additional information on Registration Day which will include paying the program fee of $95, submitting to a drug test, getting fitted for your uniforms, and more.
