Why We Fundraise

Because of your generous fundraising efforts, we can provide our school with a variety of enrichment items and activities, show our support for staff, and plan or support SCS community events.

Funded requests for 2017-2018:

• Pumpkins for Pumpkin carving / Book of the Month activity
• 1st grade - New books
• A green screen for the Maker Space
• The “Buddy Bench”!
• Author visits – Molly B. Burnham, author of the popular “Teddy Mars” series.
• Museum of Science presentation on matter
• 2 educational kits for the Library
• 4th grade - presentation on lasers and lights
• Show shoes for PE
• Kindergarten Zoo Creatures presentation
• Large street maps of the area around SCS
• 5th grade – Tricorn hats
• 5th grade – Dearborn Company for Revolutionary War reenactment at the school
• 2nd grade - Museum of Science presentation
• 3rd grade - collection of books addressing social issues
• Maker Space – two rolling carts
• New laminating machine for office use

Annual Events:

• PFG popsicle social – supplies and volunteers
• Annual Welcome Back Luncheon for teachers & staff
• Staples gift cards for classroom teachers
• Annual Trick or Trunk celebration – supplies and volunteers
• Volunteers and refreshments for the annual “Grandfriends Day” celebration
• Kids Night Out at Action Kids Athletics
• Annual Teacher Appreciation Week & Staff Appreciation Luncheon
• Annual End of Year celebration
• Plus many more!!

Past Accomplishments

Because of your generous fundraising efforts in past years, we were able to provide the school with a variety of enrichment items and activities:

• Music – Artist in Residence, Randy Armstrong
• Library – Author Visit, Marty Kelley
• Contribution to the Memorial bench in memory of Mrs. Pipinias
• Box Tops funds were used to complete installation of shades in the gym
• Resurfacing the Courtyard to be more handicap accessible
• Birds of Prey Presentation
• Music - Brass Band Quartet Presentation

Ongoing initiatives

In addition to special events, teachers and staff often need extra supplies and items to support their curriculum. Parents need ways to be involved and get in touch with teachers and other families in our community. Here are some examples of ongoing PFG initiatives:

• Grade level curriculum support and supplies requests funded for each grade each year (including art, music, library and PE)
• Room parents / classroom liaisons organized for each teacher each year
• Swasey Online Directory as a resource for families
• Swasey Notepads
• Swasey spiritwear clothing line & bumper stickers
• PFG Website with upcoming events & news
• Facebook page with events, news & pictures from around school
