# Privacy Policy — ScreenX Recorder
**Effective date:** 30 July 2026
**Last updated:** 30 July 2026
MD Developer Studio ("we", "us", "our") develops the ScreenX Recorder Android
application, package `com.screenx.recorder` (the "App"). This policy explains
what the App does — and does not do — with your information.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
---
## Summary
- **Your recordings stay on your device.** We operate no server that receives
your video, your audio, your screen content or your camera image.
- **There is no account.** We do not ask you to register, and we hold no profile
about you.
- **The free version shows ads** supplied by Google AdMob, which uses your
device's advertising ID. The premium version shows no ads at all.
- **Nothing is recorded without you starting it.** Capture only runs after you
grant the Android screen-capture prompt, and Android shows a notification for
the entire time it is running.
- The only things that leave your device go either to a live-streaming service
**you chose yourself**, or to **Google** (advertising, purchases, app updates,
ratings).
---
## 1. What the App stores on your device
**Recordings, edits and exports.** Screen recordings, trimmed copies, rendered
edits and GIFs are written to the App's own private folder on your device:
```
Android/data/com.screenx.recorder/files/Movies/ScreenX
```
Files there are visible only to the App. They become visible elsewhere only when
you choose **Share** or **Save to gallery** yourself. Deleting a file inside the
App deletes it from your device. Uninstalling the App removes all of them.
**All editing happens on your device.** Trimming, cutting, silence removal,
noise reduction, loudness levelling, captions, mosaic (hide-area) layers, colour
grading and GIF export are performed locally by your phone's own media hardware.
Nothing is uploaded for processing.
**Your settings.** Capture quality, frame rate, audio source, microphone and
internal-audio levels, facecam preferences, watermark text, theme, language and
similar options are stored locally on your device.
**Live-streaming destinations.** If you add a streaming destination, its server
URL and stream key are stored on your device only. A stream key is transmitted
solely to the streaming server you selected, in order to start your broadcast.
We never receive it and cannot see it.
**Bookmarks and counters.** Moments you bookmark while recording, and small
counters used to pace the rating prompt and ad frequency, are stored locally.
We do not have access to any of the above.
---
## 2. What leaves your device
### Live streams
When you start a live stream, your screen and (if enabled) your microphone and
camera are sent **directly from your device to the streaming service you chose** —
for example YouTube, Twitch, Facebook or Kick. The stream does not pass through
our servers. Once your video reaches that service, that service's own privacy
policy and terms govern it.
### Advertising
See **section 3**, which covers this in detail.
### Purchases
See **section 4**.
### App updates and ratings
The App uses Google Play's in-app update and in-app review features. These are
operated by Google Play and communicate with Google, not with us. We receive no
personal information from them.
### Network status
The App checks whether you currently have a network connection, in order to warn
you before you start a live stream. This check happens on your device; the result
is not transmitted anywhere.
---
## 3. Advertising
**The free version of the App is supported by advertising.** Ads are supplied by
**Google AdMob** (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), acting as an independent
advertising provider.
### Where and when ads appear
| Format | Where you see it |
|---|---|
| **Banner** | A strip at the bottom of the Record screen and the Library screen. |
| **Full-screen (interstitial)** | Occasionally *after* a recording has finished and been saved. |
Ads are **never** shown while a recording or a live stream is running, and are
never placed over the recording controls. Full-screen ads are rate-limited, so
they cannot appear after every recording.
### What the advertising provider may collect
To select, deliver, cap and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may
collect and process:
- your device's **advertising ID** (a resettable identifier — not your name);
- your **IP address**, and a coarse location derived from it (typically
country-level);
- **device and app information**, such as device model, operating-system version,
language, screen size and the App's version;
- **ad interaction data** — that an ad was shown, viewed, clicked or closed.
This information is collected by Google's advertising SDK inside the App and sent
to Google. **We do not receive it**, and we do not build any profile of you from
it.
**We never send your recordings, your screen content, your camera image, your
microphone audio, your file names or your stream keys to any advertiser.** Ad
code has no access to any of those.
Google's handling of this data is described here:
- Google advertising and privacy — <https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads>
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services —
<https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites>
- Google Privacy Policy — <https://policies.google.com/privacy>
### Your consent, and how to change it
If you are in the **European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland**,
you are asked for your choices before the first ad request, using Google's
consent management platform. Personalised ads are shown only if you agree to
them.
You can change your choice at any time:
> **Settings → Ad privacy choices**
### How to limit ads elsewhere
Wherever you are, you can limit ad tracking through Android itself:
- **Settings → Privacy → Ads** (the exact path varies by manufacturer and
Android version) lets you **reset** your advertising ID, or **delete** it
entirely. Deleting it stops apps from receiving an advertising identifier.
### Removing ads completely
Purchasing **ScreenX Premium** removes all advertising from the App. When premium
is active, no ad is requested and the advertising SDK is not asked for content.
---
## 4. Purchases
Premium is available as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a
one-time lifetime unlock. **All payments are processed by Google Play.**
We receive only a confirmation from Google Play that an entitlement exists for
your Google account. **We never see or store your card number, bank details,
billing address or any other payment information.**
Google Play's privacy policy applies to the payment itself:
<https://policies.google.com/privacy>
To view, change or cancel a subscription: **Google Play → Menu → Subscriptions**.
---
## 5. Permissions, and why each one is used
| Permission | Why the App asks for it |
|---|---|
| **Screen capture** (Android's own consent prompt) | To record or live-stream your screen. Granted by you each time Android asks, and Android shows an ongoing notification for the whole session. |
| **Microphone** (`RECORD_AUDIO`) | To record your voice onto the recording or stream. Optional — silent recording works without it. Used only while a capture you started is running. |
| **Camera** (`CAMERA`) | Only for the optional **facecam** overlay, which places your camera image in a corner of the recording. Off by default. When facecam is off, the App does not open the camera at all. |
| **Notifications** (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`) | To show the recording timer with Pause and Stop controls. Android requires an ongoing notification for screen capture. |
| **Display over other apps** (`SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW`) | To show the floating control bubble while capturing, so you can stop without leaving your game or app. Optional, and can be turned off in Settings. |
| **Internet / network state** | To deliver ads, process purchases, check for updates, and send your live stream to the destination you chose. |
| **Keep awake** (`WAKE_LOCK`) | To stop the device sleeping mid-recording and truncating your file. |
| **Vibrate** | Short haptic feedback on controls such as the trim handles. |
| **Billing** | To sell and verify premium through Google Play. |
| **Advertising ID** (`AD_ID`) | Used by Google AdMob as described in section 3. Not used when premium is active. |
**The App never records your screen, microphone or camera in the background, or
at any time you have not started a capture yourself.** There is no hidden or
scheduled recording capability.
---
## 6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with
personal information, contact us at the address in section 11 and we will act on
it.
If you are under 18, please use the App only with the involvement of a parent or
guardian, and do not make purchases without their permission.
---
## 7. Your choices and controls
| You want to… | Do this |
|---|---|
| Delete a recording | Delete it in the App's Library, or uninstall the App to remove all of them. |
| Change your ad consent | **Settings → Ad privacy choices** |
| Remove ads entirely | Purchase ScreenX Premium. |
| Reset or delete your advertising ID | Your device's Android privacy settings. |
| Manage or cancel a subscription | **Google Play → Subscriptions** |
| Revoke a permission | Your device's system settings for the App, or **Settings → App permissions** in the App. |
| Stop the floating bubble | Turn off **Floating controls** in Settings. |
| Turn off the facecam | Turn off **Facecam** in Settings; the camera is then never opened. |
---
## 8. Retention and deletion
Because we hold no account and no copy of your content, **there is no
server-side data for us to retain or delete.** Your recordings and settings
persist on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
Data held by Google in connection with advertising, purchases or Play services is
retained according to Google's own policies, linked in sections 3 and 4.
If you believe we hold information about you and want it removed, write to us at
the address in section 11.
---
## 9. Security
Your recordings are kept in the App's private storage area, which Android
isolates from other apps. Stream keys are stored on the device and sent only to
the streaming server you configured, over the connection that server specifies.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure. A device that is rooted,
compromised, or shared with others may expose files that Android would otherwise
keep private. Please protect your device with a screen lock.
---
## 10. Your responsibility when recording
**You are responsible for what you record.** Some apps and services technically
restrict or legally prohibit screen capture, and laws about recording other
people — their voice, their image, or a call — vary widely between countries and
states. Please make sure you have the right to record, and to share, whatever you
capture.
---
## 11. Third-party services used by the App
| Service | Purpose | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising in the free version | <https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads> |
| Google Play Billing | Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock | <https://policies.google.com/privacy> |
| Google Play Services (in-app update, in-app review) | Update prompts and the rating sheet | <https://policies.google.com/privacy> |
| The streaming service you choose | Receives your live stream directly | That service's own policy |
---
## 12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For changes
that materially affect how your information is handled, we will also tell you
inside the App. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the
updated policy.
