About Us

Mission Statement (What We Do):

The School Community Resource Collaborative brings together community members to promote the sharing of resources and information, with the goal of providing supports to foster, well-being and resilience for all children and families in the SD 308 community.

Values Statement (How We Do It):

The SCRC Membership believes in utilizing a holistic, strengths-based and culturally sensitive approach to the integration of education and resources, to best promote individual and family resiliency. The SCRC recognizes the importance of building respectful, supportive, and nurturing relationships throughout the SD308 community.

How We Started:

The School Community Resource Collaborative was launched in March of 2019 through a collaboration between Oswego Community School District 308 and Aurora University's Social Work program in hopes to help SD308 students succeed to their highest potential by connecting them and their caregiving systems to vital resources in the community.

Since this time, we have over 50 represented community partners actively playing a role in our collaboration. Every member contributes valuable insight, skills, and experience to achieve the goals the collaborative sets together. We find it important to consistently re-evaluate our goals, mission, and initiatives in order to align with what our community needs. All individuals, associations, organizations, businesses, and institutions are encouraged to attend our meetings in order to create a strong and resilient network for our community and for all perspectives to be considered.

Because we are built upon community strength, we found it important to create committees to address specific needs in collaboration with the very community partners that have skillsets, passion, and experience to fulfill those needs. The Awareness, Connections, and Education and Training Committees allow us a great space to collectively focus on individual goals and initiatives to eventually make a collective impact. By allowing focus on each of these areas, community partners and experts are able to dive deep into the needs of the community and work on more than one goal at a time.

The foundation that SCRC was built upon is a belief in our community's ability to achieve community resilience. Reducing the impact of trauma and/or mental health concerns is part of how we can achieve that. The School-Community Resource Collaborative can offer different yet comprehensive support to each individual. We continue to provide linkages between community initiatives and providers to bridge gaps and create a cohesive approach to family supports.

With all of this, we are #SD308STRONG.
