Lake Mattamuskeet

We went fishing on Lake Mattamuskeet.  Mr. Sean caught lots of catfish and we caught lots of crabs.  We returned to Goose Creek State Park and cooked them for dinner!

Sea Scout Academy, Fort Monroe VA

We attended the Sea Scout Academy at Fort Monroe.  They have a excellent set up for sailing!  We met a lot of Sea Scouts from North Carolina and Virginia.  Alex also received his Golden Dragon!  Our very own Skipper helped both instruct, then run the regatta!

National Safe Boating Week

We washed boats (and cars!) at West Marine in Morehead City to kick off National Safe Boating Week!

Carolina Sailing Weekend at Gallants Channel

A fun weekend of camping at Gallants Channel in Beaufort, NC.  Sea Scouts from Ship 7730 were joined by Sea Scout Ship 1117 and Maritime Explorers to learn about small boat saiiing, traditional boat sailing and sailboat racing.  They sailed out of the channel and to Carrot Island.  We also fished off the dock!  This event was so fun, we are going to do it again!

Kayak Practice!

Explorers and Sea Scouts had an opportunity to practice their kayaking skills in a controlled environment.  They are getting ready for warmer weather!

Christmas Tree Recycling Fundraiser

Sea Scout Ship 7730 & Maritime Explorer Cub 7730 partnered for a Christmas Tree Recycling Fundraiser in December 2021.

Interested participants could sign up to have their Christmas tree picked up by the Scouts & Explorers and delivered to Emerald Isle or Atlantic beach where they were used to form sand dunes.

Sand dunes provide natural coastal protection against storm surge and high waves, preventing or reducing coastal flooding and structural damage, as well as providing important ecological habitat.

We helped recycle over 50 trees!
