Starting in Fall 2021, I joined the Charles and Louise Travers Department of Political Science at the University of California-Berkeley, the institution from which I received my Ph.D. in 2004. I am a Professor of Political Science and currently serve as Chair of the department. In 2023, I was elected to the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, where I was named the Mahatma M.K. Gandhi Fellow.

I previously served as the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as the Chair and Associate Chair of the Department of Political Science and the Director of the International Studies Major.
