Side Quests (Should Do) (Bonus Activities)
Side Quests (Should Do) (Bonus Activities)
Side Quests are challenges you should do over the course of your time studying, they are completely optional. They will help you grow in your subject area, introduce you to resources that are helpful for studying on your own, and set a pace for you to move beyond what is expected for you at this grade level. Each "side quest" you complete earns you a set number of coins. (See the page discussing "The Market" in your guidebook.)
Side Quest #1: Parchment of Power: The Bill of Rights
Within the stone walls of The Academy, it's instilled that the role of a Knight extends beyond the battlefield. In the bustling courtrooms and quiet council chambers, Knights are revered as the lawkeepers of the land. It's not enough to wield a sword; a Knight must also wield the weight of the kingdom's laws with fairness and unwavering judgment. The intricate codes and edicts of The Academy, and the broader legal tapestry of the realm, serve as guiding lights. As guardians of justice, Knights are tasked with upholding these laws, ensuring that the realm remains a bastion of order, equity, and honor.
Practice: You will be recording a mini podcast lesson about the Bill of Rights. You will need to research these first 10 amendments to The Constitution carefully, and explain them in a way that anyone can understand. Your focus is on creating a recording that discusses the amedments in a way where others can learn from what you are teaching.
You can start your research at the link below, but you will need to access other resources to get a more thorough understanding. Make sure not to just copy/paste information for your script! Your recording must be 3+ minutes in length. Audio is the only requirement.
Show Mastery: You turn in a script with accurate information, you turn in a recording that meets 3+ minute requirement. You turn in the accompanying guide page.
What If I Don't Achieve Mastery?: If you don't meet the requirements, you'll be asked to continue until you complete it as described.
Side Quest #2: Practice Your Path
All students at the Academy must challenge themselves and each other when training in the class they choose to explore. In this side quest you are tasked with coming up with a quiz challenging other magicians, beastmasters, knights, rangers, and bards in the knowledge they must know to progress in their path.
Practice: NOTE: You can only work on this side quest during after-school practice on Thursdays.
Your teacher will give you a set of questions from a previous competition. You will use this set of questions to create a test on Quizizz following the guidelines set forth by your teacher.
Show Mastery: Turn-in your Quizizz featuring real questions to your teacher/coach. They will check to make sure you meet the number of questions required and that the formatting is correct.
What If I Don't Achieve Mastery?: If you don't meet the requirements, you'll be asked to continue until you complete it as described.
Side Quest #3: Maintaining the Market Vocabulary
Knights at the Academy are regularly tasked with patrolling the bustling Market that surrounds The Academy. These vendors have come from around the world to sell their goods, and Academy Knights are tasked with keeping the peace, but they are also tasked with learning about the underlying systems of commerce taking place. Learning about economics and the bartering systems of this world will help you be better at negotiating and trading for goods and services adventurers like you and your allies may need in the future.

What If I Don't Achieve Mastery?: If you don't meet the requirements, you'll be asked to continue until you complete it as described.
Side Quest #4: Preparing to Ascend
Beneath the shadow of The Pinnacle of the Past, Knights-in-training form huddles, their voices a harmonious blend of excitement and determination. With weathered scrolls unfurled and ancient tomes in hand, they share knowledge of lost civilizations and decode riddles from bygone eras. Each knight brings a piece of the puzzle, for they know that in unity lies strength. Here, rivalries fade, replaced by camaraderie and shared purpose. For while the ascent of the Pinnacle is an individual's quest, the preparation is a collective endeavor. The wisdom of the ancients awaits, and together, they strive to unlock its secrets.
