Feats of Strength (Aspire To Do) (Challenge Activities)
Feats of Strength (Aspire To Do) (Challenge Activities)
"Feats of Strength" are activities you should "aspire" to complete. These are typically challenges that will take you to new levels of success in your subject area, and most take significant time, work, knowledge, or a combination of all 3 to complete. These are optional challenges, but ones that you may choose to work on in the background over the course of your school year. (Note: Most rewards here will just be symbolic, but your dedication to the academic team will be noted if you manage to complete any of these.)
Feat of Strength : Postcards of Power
Project: In this project, you will expand your research of the 50 states to find important information you need to know about each, and show your advanced knowledge.
In your first quest, you created a copy of the 50 States Postcard slideshow linked below, and filled in a place for the state capital, state flower, and important landmarks/destinations.
Return back to your presentation. Print a copy (try front/back, so the front and back of postcard are on one page,) so that you have all 50 postcards in physical form with the information you completed in the quest on the back of each.
To complete this feat of strength, you must do two things:
1.) Color the front of each postcard, make it so that each is unique.
2.) Use the postcards as flashcards to review the state, and the state capital. In order to complete this feat of strength, you will need to give your teacher your copy of the postcard/flashcards you completed. Your teacher will show you a state, and you will need to tell them the captial of each.
Show Mastery: Each postcard must be printed, colored, and you will need to recall all 50 capitals when shown the postcard of the state. Your teacher will not show them to you in alphabetical order.
What If I Don't Achieve Mastery?: Your teacher will give you your postcard/flashcards back to finish the part of this Feat of Strength that you need to complete.
Feat of Strength : The Pinnacle of the Past
Within the grand halls of "The Academy", young knights-in-training are not only educated in the arts of combat and chivalry, but also in the rich tapestry of history and the world's ancient lore. But theoretical lessons in the classrooms and combat arenas are just a part of their rigorous curriculum. A real test of their mettle lies a few miles west of the Academy walls, in the form of a grand structure known as "The Pinnacle of the Past".
The Pinnacle stands as a symbol of the vast wealth of knowledge that has been accumulated over the ages. Its towering heights are filled with rooms of enigmatic riddles, cryptic puzzles, and challenges based on the forgotten tales of ancient civilizations. Each floor represents a unique era or a distinct civilization, and to ascend, one must prove their understanding and respect for that time period.
Knights often undertake the challenge of climbing this tower not just as a rite of passage, but as a pilgrimage to connect with the wisdom of bygone eras. Climbing the tower is no easy feat. Many are those who attempt the ascent, but few reach its summit. The trials within the Pinnacle test not only a knight's intellect and knowledge, but also their patience, persistence, and determination.
