Father Dickson Cemetery
On the third Saturday from April through November, St. Catherine Laboure's Faith and Justice mows, trims, and picks up storm debris at Father Dickson Cemetery at 845 S. Sappington Road in Crestwood.
Father Dickson Cemetery was established in 1903 as a final resting place for African-Americans due to the segregation of cemeteries at that time. The cemetery represents 167 years of African- American history.
Although the cemetery has been designated a National Historic Site in October 2021, there are no funds yet to maintain it. Volunteers meet at 9:00 a.m. and finish by noon. Contact cgriner8@sbcglobal.net for more information.
