The SCI Mobility Lab is committed to supporting and maintaining a learning and working environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. Every person has a right to fair treatment. Diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences strengthen our research and development as scientists. In alignment with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, our lab is committed to working with all equity-deserving populations (including LGBTQ2S+ people, racialized groups, people with disabilities, those from rural or remote communities, and more) in order to advance all forms of equity. Our lab is committed to the principles of allyship, with the acknowledgement that people in positions of privilege must be willing to align themselves in solidarity with marginalized groups.
We wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto and Lyndhurst Centre, KITE-TRI operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Wendat Nation, the Seneca, the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa and the Haudenosaunee. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. We encourage our team, clients, and partners to take time to learn about the lands they are currently on, and to explore this Indigenous Ally Toolkit and action these learnings daily.
