Culturally Responsive Self Reflection Questions
Here are some reflection questions that will help you engage in reflective thinking about your own cultural and racial identity.
Increase cultural understanding of self:
How does my social identity shape and inform my teaching practices?
Increase awareness and understanding of issues facing diverse students (e.g. social inequities):
In what areas do I need to learn more about culture, privilege, power, and difference?
Examine beliefs about teaching and learning:
What does my teaching look like, and why do I work this way? Is my current practice making a difference in student learning and engagement in STEM, and how do I know?
Improve teaching practice:
How am I planning and implementing strategies for effectively engaging ALL students in STEM?
