Sometimes despite our best efforts, accidents happen in the lab. What do you do if you break something? This video shows you how to correctly dispose of broken glassware. Please note that your lab may have a different kind of broken glass or sharps container. Make sure you know where it is located, and never touch broken glass with your hands!
This video gives a good demonstration of how to safely deal with small chemical spills, as well as larger ones that require use of a spill kit.
Note: You can stop watching at 3:26, since you should not be handling any radioactive material in the school laboratory.
Safe Handling of Chemicals
This video gives an overview of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Identification System (WHMIS), which first introduced in 1988 and updated to the current system in 2015.
Safety data sheets are important documents that contain important information about chemicals. Watch this video to learn what information you will find in each section of a safety data sheet.
