Walk the wildlife refuge trails and the boardwalk through marshes near Narragansett Bay. Explore the Audubon Nature Center and Aquarium. Our guide will meet us outside to orient us to the trails and explain the programs offered. Then teachers may freely explore the trails, museum, Nature Shop and more. The RI Audubon Society has waived fees for conference participants. Meet at the Nature Center entrance at 3:00 pm (401 Hope Street, Bristol, RI 02809)
Observe the life cycle of shellfish. Learn about RWU’s research and restoration efforts, algae farming, Marine Ornament program and other efforts. Weather permitting, we’ll explore the nursery on the dock overlooking the shellfish farms. Then explore the hatchery, experimental farms and laboratories in the nearby Marine and Natural Science Building. Gather at 3:00 to walk down together or meet us at the dock
Relax on the water front before your drive home. Socialize with other teachers or explore Mt. Hope Bay. Take turns using several sit-on-top Kayaks available at no charge. Meet at the water front behind the Richard L. Bready Mount Hope Bay Sailing and Education Center starting at 3:00 pm. It's just a short walk from the Global Heritage Hall.
