Interests:
Dr. O'Connell is a clinician researcher with special interest in adaptive technologies, such as walking exoskeletons and electrical stimulation orthoses, and how they can improve outcomes and function for persons with mobility impairment. Working with an interdisciplinary team, she incorporates research into clinical practice, fostering a culture of inquiry and building research capacity among the spinal cord community. Dr. O'Connell is a member of the International Spinal Cord Society External Relations committee, consulted in many countries and with organizations for improving SCI care globally.
