Confined to the secret annex above an Amsterdam office, the four members of the Frank family and 4 others live in hiding for two years during World War II. Careful not to move during the day, the captives try to create a new normal, with the families celebrating Hanukkah together, the children schooled at home, and nightly updates on the approaching Allies. Anne, who was only thirteen when she went into hiding, recorded it all in her diary, closely writing about her family, the annoying habits of other members, and her dreams of life after the war.
