Ambre is working on animal communication with an interdisciplinary perspective. She combines methodologies and theories from Behavioural Ecology, Linguistics, and Cognitive Sciences to explore the meaning of bird calls. Her primary focus was on Parids these last years (and the possible syntax of their mobbing calls), before she joined our team to work on House Sparrows. Little is known about house sparrows calls apart from their well-known 'chirrup' call. Combining different methods (passive recording with 360 cameras, automatic feeders, shotgun recordings,..), Ambre is exploring the coding and decoding system of house sparrows (individuality, context-based calls, etc). Her most recent updates and complete CV can be found here.
