Welcome to my classroom! My name is Jason Williams, and I'm so excited to be starting my 21st year of teaching, and my first here at Yuba City Charter School. I've had the pleasure of teaching a variety of subjects, including 4th/5th grades, 7th/8th grade ELA and Social Studies, and Computer Science.
I grew up in San Carlos, California, right in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. My educational journey took me from Junipero Serra High School to the University of San Diego, where I majored in Diversified Liberal Arts with a concentration in History. I earned my teaching credential from Notre Dame de Namur and have recently expanded my skills with an Assistive Technology Certificate from Cal State Northridge and a Single Subject Credential in Computer Science from Chico State.
Teaching wasn't always my plan, as school was sometimes a challenge for me. However, with determination, a love for learning, and some amazing role models, I discovered the "fun of learning" and realized I had a passion for sharing it with others. I believe in creating a technology-rich classroom where students can get a taste of what the future holds for them. My mission is to make learning engaging, challenging, and, most of all, fun!
I'm proud to say that my students have achieved some great things, including winning the Biz World Challenge in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, I was honored with the J. Russell Kent Award for my innovative "Pencil Box News" program, which I continue to produce. This award recognizes outstanding classroom programs, and it's something I'm very proud of.
When I'm not in the classroom, I'm a huge sports fan, especially of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and Sharks. You might even spot some of my team spirit in the classroom! I also love playing golf, tinkering with technology, and solving a good problem. I have a wonderful family, including two brothers, two nieces, and two nephews, and my girlfriend is also a teacher. We love to travel and experience new things, and my phone is always playing some good country music.
I'm thrilled to have moved to the Chico area to be closer to my family and to be a part of the Yuba City Charter School team. I am excited to create a positive, productive, and fun-filled classroom for all my students.
