2023 Counselor Academy
February 10th, 2023 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM at The University of Scranton

Dr. Francis Dawgert, MD (Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine) was the Keynote speaker. He presented about post-Covid trauma, and the unique issues students and educators are facing because of it.
7 different breakout sessions were provided over three different time slots. Topics covered included Social & Emotional Learning (SEL), LGBTQ+ Populations, Developing Healthy Relationships, Creating a School Counseling Brand, Small Groups, Mindfulness, and New Counselor Tips
Renee Berry (2022 SCsNEPA School Counselor of the Year) spoke about what it meant to receive the award, and the impact school counselors have on their students.

Zach Watters (President) spoke about School Counselors of NEPA, upcoming scholarships and events, professional development, and opportunities within the organization.
Members were asked to share professional development topics they are interested in.Â
