Students in grades K-12 have a guaranteed seat at the general education program in their neighborhood school. No GoCPS application is required. Please reach out to the school directly if you wish to enroll. Pre-K students are not guaranteed a seat in their neighborhood school and should apply through the Chicago Early Learning website.

GoCPS allows families to explore and apply to nearly any CPS school and program through one online platform. Research all of your school and program options, schedule appointments for admissions screenings, submit your application and receive your offers.

Pre-K opportunities provide young children with a strong foundation for future success in school and ignite a lifelong passion for learning through collaborating with families, sharing common goals, and setting high expectations. CPS, the City of Chicago, and their partners offer high-quality preschool and childcare programs at more than 600 sites across the city. Pre-K programs serve children who live in Chicago from birth to age five.

Elementary schools focus on allowing children to develop social skills as well as cognitive and thinking skills. CPS is home to more than 470 elementary schools that offer a wide variety of program options to meet the academic interests of students. Elementary schools serve children who live in Chicago from kindergarten through eighth grade.

High schools offer rigorous curriculum, extracurricular activities, and counseling resources that help students plan and prepare for success in life after graduation. CPS is home to more than 160 high schools that offer a wide variety of program options to meet the academic interests of students. High schools serve children who live in Chicago from ninth through 12th grade. CPS students use the GoCPS enrollment tool to apply to ninth grade. Students applying or transferring to grades 10-12 should contact the school directly.

GoCPS is your platform for exploring and applying to all district and charter high schools, and all district elementary schools. Research all of your school and program options, schedule appointments for admissions screenings, submit your application and receive your offers.

Students who become disengaged from school are highly encouraged to re-engage at their last school of enrollment in order to maintain continuity in the educational setting. If a student or parent decides that the last school of enrollment is not the best fit, CPS provides several pathways for students to explore available options to get back on track to receive their high school diploma.

For students who do not live in permanent housing, attending school and staying on track for their grade can present challenges on many levels and across different areas. CPS provides assistance in removing these barriers to qualified Students in Temporary Living Situations (STLS).

Background Information

Since 1968, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) has conducted the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) to collect data on key education and civil rights issues in our nation's public schools. ED formerly administered the collection as the Elementary and Secondary School Civil Rights Survey.

The CRDC gathers a variety of information including student enrollment and student access to educational programs and services, most of which is disaggregated by race or ethnicity, sex, English learner, and disability. The CRDC is a longstanding and important aspect of the ED Office for Civil Rights (OCR) overall strategy for administering and enforcing the civil rights laws for which OCR is responsible. Information collected by the CRDC is also used by other ED offices as well as policymakers and researchers outside of ED.

For further general information about the CRDC, visit the CRDC FAQ page.

2021-22 and 2023-24 CRDCs NEW!

On April 18, 2023, OCR received approval from the U.S. Office of Management and Budget to require all local educational agencies (LEA) in the country that receive federal financial assistance from ED, including every public school district, charter schools, juvenile justice facilities, alternative schools, and schools serving only students with disabilities, to respond to the CRDC for the 2021-22 and 2023-24 school years. OCR made changes to the CRDC, including, but not limited to the restoration of long-standing and useful data elements that have been collected in previous CRDCs as well as some new data elements. For more details about changes in the 2021-22 and 2023-24 CRDCs, please see 2021-22 Questions and Answers PDF (183K) and 2023-24 Questions and Answers PDF (181K). OCR will notify LEAs of the dates when they must submit data for the 2021-22 CRDC. Survey Forms

The 2021-22 CRDC school- and LEA-level survey forms contain instructions, definitions, and table layouts for the 2021-22 CRDC items.

The CRDCs for the 2020-21, 2017-18, 2015-16, 2013-14, and 2011-12 school years collected data from every public school and school district in the country that received federal financial assistance from ED. The 2009-10 CRDC collected data from a sample of approximately 7,000 public school districts and over 72,000 public schools. Resources for the 2020-21, 2017-18, 2015-16, 2013-14, 2011-12, and 2009-10 CRDCs are presented below.

2) SCHOOL ACCESS form

All visitors to the school or any school event MUST be approved through the St. Johns County School District School Access. Once the application is approved, school access is valid for three years. A new application is not needed for each event.

FortifyFL is a website and app developed at the direction of the Florida Legislature. Any student, educator, parent or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously and easily through the FortifyFL app or getfortifyfl.com.

This is just a reminder that anyone (parent, guardian, friend, neighbor, aunt, uncle) must have school access to attend an event at Durbin Creek, have lunch with a student and/or attend an awards assembly. If you have not already done so, please complete the School Access Form. The process for approval may take up to 4 weeks, so please fill out the application sooner than later for any guests that would like to have school access. Once the application is approved, school access will be valid for three years.

Please be specific about the reason why your child will not be attending school today. Be sure to include symptoms if they are ill, especially if they have fever, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, and/or cough. If your child has a diagnosis from a health care provider, please include that information.

If this is an early dismissal, please indicate the time you expect to arrive and call the office five minutes before you arrive to allow school staff to get your child to the front office for pickup. Dental and medical appointments are excused; however, we ask that such appointments be kept to a minimum during the instructional day. If a child must leave early for a medical or dental appointment, parents are requested to send a note or email in advance and must sign the child out in the office at the appropriate time. Please allow sufficient time for your child to get to the office in order for you to arrive on time to your scheduled appointment.
