The Growing Classroom
This Guide contains numerous lesson plans based off of Next Generation Science Standards, including general tips for starting a garden, gardening how-tos, and classroom management. The 4th Edition is a great addition to any school garden program. Created and available for purchase from LifeLab.org.
MN Ag In The Classroom
MAITC hosts a number of awesome resources and opportunities for educators to enhance ag literacy in Minnesota, including regional curriculum specialists, minigrants, and an online searchable database of vetted lessons aligned to state standards. A major resources, is the MATRIX, an online searchable database of vetted and standards-aligned lessons. PLUS 31 School Garden Lessons and 10 MN speciality crop lessons.
School Garden Lesson Plans
From Whole Kids Foundation and the American Heart Association, this booklet of 35 lesson plans feature interative activities promoting fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy eating. For preK-grade 5.
University of Georgia Extension
These garden-based lessons are all aligned to the educational standards for the State of Georgia. They are listed by grade level (K-8) and are subdivided into content areas. Also includes a list of additional curricular resources.
Berkeley School District Curriculum
Berkeley Public Schools developed their own garden-based and nutrition curriculum for elementary grades in early 2010s. Every couple of years they review and update the curriculum. View and download from the BPS Gardening and Nutrition Program's webpage

The University of Minnesota Raptor Center and Extension is sharing a FREE online scientific research and investigation tool that grades 6-12 students will love! Raptor Lab, an online learning environment focused on providing students with an authentic learning experience in science and environmental education, is EASY to include in your distance learning plans. You will find a Flyer attached with more info, including how to sign yourself and your students up, as well as a Teacher’s Guide. School Garden- a hundred years ago
This literature review of USDA historical documents pertaining to school gardens was put together by the USDA National Agricultural Library, with links to e-scans of historical documents -- basically USDA bulletins and grey literature developed by USDA to help Americans with their school gardening. Following links, provides links to other amazing historical documents that highlight the wide breadth of strategies that USDA's educators to improve wellbeing of Americans.
A great book is City Bountiful: A century of Community Gardening in America (2005) by Laura Lawson that describes both Community and School Gardens
